Principles & Guidelines
Master Code of Practice
The Australian Logistics Council (ALC) working with the Australian Trucking Association (ATA) developed an industry-wide Master Code for heavy vehicle safety.
The Master Code was developed following an extensive period of consultation with industry participants, designed to ensure it addressed all pertinent issues and was an accessible tool that provided users with practical guidance for meeting their Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations under the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL).
The Master Code presents a risk-based approach to managing safety by translating the requirements of the HVNL into a practical application for the whole industry. It provides suggested controls that can be used to manage CoR risks.
